My maternal grandfather is 85 year old. He has healthy both physically and mentally. For example, he can help himself in his daily living such as eating, bathing, and cooking. In addition, he is positive thinking in his life. For instant, firstly, he has grubs activities in the community such as dancing in the elderly club and gardening. Secondly, he playing with his grandchildren everyday. Finally, he have free time such as basket one to two hours/day and talk with his's dog everyday in this activity make him happy.
ReplyDeleteOne important thing, he like eat a traditional esan Thai food because low fat, a lot of vegetables and eat fish because it is easy to digest.
In my opinion, people in good old days, because eating is important and should be combined with exercise and happy mind to make a long life.
Thanks for sharing! No doubt time spent with grandchildren brings immense pleasure to the elderly. I'm looking forward to the time when I can spend time with my children's children. In the meantime, I get a great deal of pleasure from talking to my dog like your grandfather does.

DeleteIt is interesting that elderly people who live with their family members and do some activities with them will have long life. In my opinion social support is very important to old people because when humans are over 59 years old, their mental and physical health will change to be dependent people. They need someone to look after their activity daily living and their minds and people who are their relative especially their children and their grandchildren will have more positive effects for aging.

My 78-year-old uncle is healthy and able to do his daily activities. He takes care of his health with a healthy diet and exercise every morning. When he has trouble, he will consult with his family. He is funny and likes gardening. In my opinion Choosing foods that are beneficial and exercising regularly makes good physical health, resulting in good mental health as well, so they have longevity.

I agree that good physical health can contribute to good mental health. Exercise, for example, does release endorphins doesn't it and they make us feel good. Studies have also shown that depth of human contact fosters health. People who have a variety of strong relationships with others, tend to live longer.

DeleteI agree with you, appropriate exercise have more advantages, when elderly people exercise, their body do not only release endorphins but also their heart and their lungs will get better. Their heart can work well for pumping blood to any part of body and their lungs will have good expansion and good gas exchange. As this informations, it can be seen that proper exercise can affect on elderly people health in both mental and physical health.

Most participants keep their metal fit by having enough money for living they said " If we have enough money, not too much, just enough for the rest of our life, we will away from any worries. That make us feel good, feel independent, therefore, we can do anything we want such as being volunteer, enjoying community activities ect."
Moreover, they went to temples to do meditation and listen to monk teaching which can reduce their stress. In addition, they do exercises by doing housework that make them get physical healthy.
Secondly, eat well, most of them usually eat good food. For example, they grown their own vegetables which no need pesticide and they eat vegetable more than meat. And sometimes they use herbal medicine to cure their illness before seeing the doctor.
I think the concept to have long life is not quite different from Okinawans.
Interesting post! Financial security is certainly important to health. If you don't have to worry about where your next meal is coming from etc you can volunteer, do crafts, play sports and so on without qualms. At the same time, we need to hold on to the fact that opportunities for recreation are a privilege or in other words a gift. We shouldn't take them for granted.

The elderly person that I know she is relatively healthy and happy is my great-grandmother. Although she passed away, she still be in my mind. When she was alive, she was healthy and happy. She maintained her good mental health by praying and meditation before she sleeps every day and sometime she went to temple to make merit, offer food to the monks and meet her friends. Furthermore, she always had a soft smile and had positive thinking. She also paid attention to her physical health. She usually ate healthy foods such as vegetables, fruits and beans and she tried to do her activity daily living herself. Moreover, she exercises by walking with me and other great-grandnephews every day. It is amazing that she passed away when she was 98 years old. According to my great-grandmother characteristics, it can be seen that elderly people who always take care of themselves well in both mental and physical health will have enabled them to live a long life.

DeleteMy paternal grand father is about 75 years old. He is clever in this age still be the consultant for many huge companies in Bangkok, that's may help his brain continue to work efficiency. He is so energize, reading books all the time. Moreover he loves to go to park for a walk and laugh about little things. I thought he appreciated everything around him that strengthen his mind and he exercises every day that strengthen his body. Therefore he does not have any medical problem except for his knees. In coclusion, the key for long life is taking care of your mind and your body.

They have a valued role in society and the family.4.They have more time for colleagues,friends or neighbours that meet several times in every morning to drinkng and disscussion 5.They have enjoy walking,jogging6.They always go to temple in the buddish day and make mediation together.On contrast they have problem with their health some place They were poor elderly in rural areas face many barriers to accessing health care services. They not only need to pay for expensive transportation costs to reach hospitals but also food and accommodation. Usually, they also need caretakers to bring them to hospitals, so the costs increased further. There are many cases of the elderly borrowing money to pay for these costs to access health care services they were lost of quality of life this is the real situation and major problem of government.

DeleteThe sample of my coworker research which was study about why did the elderly people healthy.She was 86 years old and had old CVA.Eventhough she had underlying disease, she did not give up to live. How did she keep a good health?.She eat a traditional diet of Esan such as vegetable, fruit and fish. She excercised everyday that was Yoka and she learnt it by herself for decreasing pain and weakness. In addition, she was a volunteer by teaching the other patient who has the symptom like her in the community. As a result, she had a good physical health and also good mental health.

ReplyDeleteThe elderly person who has healthy and happy is my maternal grand mother. She is 85 years old. In my opinion she had a good mental health. In everyday she likes to walk around my house and visit the neighborhood for share some food that her cooking. She always smile and laugh loudly. However, In her Physical health she had a hypertension and colostomy bag. The doctor follow up her to check every 3 months but this is not a problem for her.She can maintained her health. She has a good health conscious for example in the evening she walk around and stretch muscles and usually eat low fat diet.
she is happier and more fulfilled.

DeleteThe meaning of happiness is hard to define as it's so subjective, for me, everyone has been trying to live happy life. My grandfather is the only elder person I am closest to. He is quite happy compared with others. I think he is optimistic and wise, enen if sometimes he can be a bit impatient when he feels like no one is going to be as efficient as him. He has been taken care by my two aunts who are his daughters. Being with him ensure me that he is not going to be abandoned. Anyway, personally, I believe that the feeling of security, balanced diet and sneaky daily exercises enable him to live a long healthy life. Regards his secure and confident personality, he can maintain his mental health and that provides positive outcomes to other aspects of his life as well. For example, he doesn't have to worry whether he will be left behind so that he can enjoy his homemade meal with his big family.
