  1. Thailand is a country that believes in ghosts and angels.
Which is great for "Beliefs with Thais", especially in Northeastern Thailand.
Mental illness is difficult for ordinary people to understand. Nowadays, mental illness is increasing in children. Because many factors such as parents do not have time to train because they have to work hard. Violent games And cannot manage stress or change yourself.

The past is not a good mental illness. People with mental illness are labeled as "insane", resulting in a psychological condition that does not require a psychiatrist to diagnose it. Because it was bad. That's the wrong belief. Untreated And severely affect both themselves, society and country.

I hope that the publicity about the mental symptoms causes the correct practice. Will cause people to prevent mental symptoms. Understand the correct treatment. In fact, mental illness is not different from diabetes, high blood pressure Or the wound of the wound. If treated properly, can be treated with the same.

    1. Insightful post! I agree. Yes mental illness must be normalized. Once people understand that it as common as, say, a condition such as diabetes and treatable they shouldn't fear it so much. In NZ, an ex All Black, John Kirwan, who suffered from depression has done a great deal to publicize the fact that mental illness is a 'normal' disease.

Talk alone or tell other people that you are the other person, so they will assume that they have mental disorders at the same time if the patient has a little mental symptoms. Sailor's knife, anxiety and introverted tend not to see a psychiatrist for fear that others are accused person is insane, resulting in a patient's mental state is very bad and cause other problems.
Nowadays, most people still believe in the past, so there are fewer patients with mental health problems to see the doctor. But health care workers have begun to publicize and understand more about mental health issues so that people have a better understanding and stop thinking that people who go to see a psychiatrist are insane. This would be a good way to make sure that patients with mental health problems are properly treated and treated.

  4. Two of myths in mental illness includes people with mental illness are violent and unpredictable and a figment of the imagination because people believe that people with mental illness cannot control their mind and emotion due to a supernatural harness their activity. In modern day, people have more an information about a mental illness and a healthcare professional pay attention to patients who have a treat to become mentality such as a hypertention and diabetes patients. For example, in primary health care, nurses will ask patients to assess a depression by a 2Q (2 short questions for assessment a depression). If it is positive for one question, they will assess by a 9Q. So that, we have many an instrument for early detection mental illness. However, for psychiatric care, I think should concentrate on a reduction stigmatization with patient to build a community acceptation for patients rehabilitation.

Although these days we can easily find mental illness facts from TV or the Internet, such old beliefs still exist.
People lack of or ignore the knowledge regarding to metal diseases, and most mental illness patients are treated and admitted in special hospitals. These make this disease being fallacy and being subscribed.

I would like to see not only do not people stigmatise the patient but also empathise them

My opinions, to solve this problem is providing the fact and the knowledge about this illness to people through health education by community health volunteers.

In the few decades mental illness was more known the treatment was started in the right way. However, most people still lack the correct understanding about mental illness and often refuse treatment because they belived that findind a psychiatrist is crazy and they might stigma from another.
Nowadays, there has been an increase in public mental health services and people have many knowleage and understanding in mental illness. In addition, people access to the service earsier.

  7. In my opinion, I think that two of the myths about mental illness are “mental illness cannot affect me” and “if I have a mental illness, it’s a sign of weakness – it’ s my fault”.
Firstly, most people believe that mental illness cannot affect them because they are not aware that the emotional problems which they have such as anxiety, stress and sadness are main risk factors causing mental illness.
Secondly, some people who have psychological illness usually feel that they are not good person. Moreover, they and their family try to keep their mental illness in secret because they afraid that others will know and dislike them.
I think that, to solve this problem, health care professional should concern about mental illness because it can affect anyone. So that, they have to evaluate this issue not only psychiatric patient but also other patients and healthy people by using the mental status questionnaire and observation. Furthermore, we have to give the information about mental illness to everyone.

    1. Clear & lucid post! Your thoughts reminded me of the fact that what we label as mental illness is oftentimes an extreme case of feelings we all feel. In other words, depression = being really sad & bipolar = moving between feeling very happy & very sad etc.

First, people with mental illness are violent and unpredictable, I usually heard about madman who attack people and unpredictable because madman out of reality. Second,There is no hope for people with mental illness. People do not accept about illnees or some people detain because family member think about mental illness cannot therapy. However Thai culture thinks that illness caused by the magic It can help with water mantra. Most Thai people do not accept illness. Even though there is little change in the psyche, it is not treated until the symptoms become severe. Therefore the method can problem solving is provide correct understanding accept treatment and the society must provide opportunities who has mental illness.

    1. It is interesting that in many cultures illnesses, both physical and mental, are associated with magic curses. Modern medicine has shown us that there are natural causes behind the conditions and diseases we have. At the same time though it is too simplistic to say, I believe, that blessings and curses have no effect. As humans, we have physical, mental & spiritual dimensions. We are body, mind & soul.

    2. I agree with you that most people in Thailand do not understand that mental illness is disease and can be treat. Therefore, psychiatric person and their family do not let others to know this issue and feel stigmatised. Perhaps, The way to solve this problem is helping them to accept themselves first, after that encourage them to care themselves and have treatment in the right ways.

  9. I am amazed by the fact that patients with mental illness wont be aggressive unless they are schizophrenia. They can live a normal life like other people and live in the community happily. One more interesting fact that it just happen, it is a disease which is not the patient fault. My friend who is suffering from depression, she can not control her self and she needs medicine. Some always blame that she thinking too much about life and do not let things go. Patients with mental illness just need time and opportunity to learn and adjust them self with the illness.

At the present human perception between myths and facts about mental illness have an effect to health recognize of patients.I think the patients should receive facts information about them healths. When the mental illness patients have a good information them health can get better well soon. On the other hand some mental illness have a limit about perception such as schizophrenia disease. You have to understand about this patients for a great treatment them.

  11. It is believed in Thailand that people with mental illness are likely to be violent with both themselves and others. Psychopaths are not expected to be cured as well. These two myths have widely discoraged mental illness patients and their relatives up until now. I would blame partly from many violent scenes shown on TV drama series, which normally intend to show that being schizophrenia causes harm to people around them including their family members. I, personally, have no idea about appropriate approches for this problem, but I really want to acknowledge people how to deal with their stress and what they should do when they feel like having problem with mental strength.
